Draw texturing yarn (DTY) is a type of deformable yarn of polyester chemical fiber. It is made of polyester slice (PET) as raw material, using high-speed spinning polyester preorientation yarn (POY), and then processed by drawing and twisting. It has the characteristics of short process, high efficiency and good quality.

Properties of polyester fibers

Strength: The strength of polyester fiber is nearly 1 times higher than that of cotton and 3 times higher than that of wool, so textiles made of polyester DTY are strong and durable.

Heat resistance: Polyester drawn textured yarn can be used at -70℃~170℃, which has the best heat resistance and thermal stability among synthetic fibers.

Elasticity: The elasticity of polyester is close to that of wool, and its wrinkle resistance exceeds that of other fibers. The fabric made of polyester DTY is wrinkle-free and has good shape retention.

Abrasion resistance: The abrasion resistance of polyester is second only to nylon and ranks second among synthetic fibers.

Water absorption: polyester has low water absorption and moisture regain and good insulation performance, but due to low water absorption, large static electricity generated by friction, and poor natural adsorption performance of dyes, polyester is generally dyed by high temperature and high pressure dyeing method. Due to the poor water absorption of polyester DTY, it is often used to make swimwear.

Dyeability: Polyester itself lacks hydrophilic groups or dye acceptor parts, so polyester has poor dyeability. It can be dyed with disperse dyes or non-ionic dyes, but the dyeing conditions are relatively harsh. However, compared to nylon DTY, polyester DTY has higher color fastness.

DTY physical properties

1. Linear density

In legal measurement units, the quantity that expresses the degree of fiber thickness is called "Linear Density".

The unit name of linear density is tex, the symbol is tex, and its 1/10 is called decitex, and the symbol is denoted as dtex.

The gram number of 1000m long fiber quality is the characteristic of the fiber.

The gram number of 10000m long fiber quality is the dtex of the fiber.

Dtex ≈ 1.1*denier.

For example, 10tex polyester DTY means that 1000m long polyester DTY has a mass of 10 grams.

2. Breaking strength

The breaking strength is the maximum tensile force that the single fiber can withstand when it is stretched in the forward direction, which directly affects the tear strength and abrasion resistance of the cloth. When choosing raw materials, customers will also pay attention that the parameter of polyester DTY is too low, the tear strength of the fabric is insufficient, and it is easy to break during the weaving process. Therefore, the breaking strength of polyester DTY generally needs to be above 3.0CN/dtex.

Relative strength is commonly used to express the breaking strength of chemical fibers such as polyester DTY. That is, the ratio of the maximum load that the fiber can bear under the action of continuously increasing the load until it breaks and the linear density of the fiber. The unit is centiNewton/dtex (cN/dtex).

Breaking strength is an important indicator of fiber quality. With high breaking strength, polyester drawn textured yarn is not easy to break during processing, and its textiles have high fastness, but if the breaking strength is too high, fiber rigidity will increase. It will feel hard.

3. Elongation at break

The elongation at break of a fiber is generally expressed as the relative elongation at break, that is, the percentage increase in the length of the fiber when it is stretched to break compared to the original length.

Elongation at break is an indicator that reflects the toughness of fibers. For clothing silk, the greater the elongation, the softer the hand feel, and the less filaments and broken ends in the post-processing; but when it is too large, the fabric is easily deformed.

For polyester DTY, the lower elongation at break of the process selection has better dyeability, higher strength and higher crimp rate. Under normal circumstances, a lower elongation at break will be selected, because too high elongation at break will cause polyester DTY to produce stiff threads, reduce shrinkage, and make fabric dyeing and finishing difficult to shape, wrinkling and other adverse effects.

4. Curl shrinkage

Crimping characteristic is an important indicator reflecting the curling elasticity of textured yarn. Polyester drawn textured yarn changes the geometry of the yarn through deformation processing, and turns the original parallel and smooth filament into a textured yarn with fluffy, curled shape and soft feel . Due to the change of the geometric shape, the fabric has certain stretch elasticity, bulkiness and warmth retention. The crimping properties of polyester DTY are regarded as different crimp elongation and crimp retraction characteristics under different conditions, and this crimping characteristic is an important indicator reflecting the quality of textured yarns.

5. Shrinkage rate in boiling water

After the fiber is boiled in boiling water for 30min, the ratio of the shrinkage length to the original length is called the boiling water shrinkage rate.

Boiling water shrinkage can reflect the degree of heat setting and dimensional stability of fibers. The smaller the shrinkage rate in boiling water, the better the structural stability of polyester DTY. When it encounters wet heat treatment (such as dyeing, washing, etc.) during processing and wearing, the size is more stable, and it is not easy to deform.

6. Internet degree

By adding a net, the cohesion of polyester DTY tow can be increased, the unwinding can be improved, so that it can be directly used for weaving, reduce end breakage, and even save the process of double twisting and sizing.

Network degree refers to the number of network points on a unit (1m) length of fiber, unit: piece/meter.

Determination methods: needle-moving counting network meter, water tank method, etc.

7. Oil content

Oil content refers to the percentage of the weight of non-fibrous material (excluding moisture) attached to the fiber to the dry fiber weight.

Determination methods: soaping method, extraction method and nuclear magnetic resonance method.

The oil content of polyester DTY is within the process setting range (generally about 5%), which is of great significance to improve the quality of products.

Application fields of polyester DTY

Polyester DTY has high bulkiness, good heat insulation, comfortable hand feel, soft luster, high breaking strength and elastic modulus of general polyester, excellent heat setting, good resilience, heat resistance, light resistance, and strong corrosion resistance. , Easy to wash and quick-drying and other characteristics, it is an ideal raw material for knitting and weaving processing, suitable for making clothing fabrics, bedding and decorative items.

In addition to being used as clothing accessories, polyester DTY is also often used as a seam, which can be made into colorful seam lines to lock the edges of various fabrics. In addition, the raw materials of some textiles such as curtains, sofas, quilt covers, bedspreads and mosquito nets are all composed of polyester DTY.

Brief introduction of polyester DTY production process

The raw material of polyester DTY is polyester POY. After being fed by the upper roller, the polyester POY is stretched by the middle roller and enters the first hot box. Under the action of a heater (electric heating, 180 ℃), polyester POY heats the filament, reduces the tensile deformation stress, and improves the crimp and bulkiness of the polyester filament. The heated polyester yarn cools naturally. To enhance elasticity, twist a polyester yarn back in the same direction to deform. In order to eliminate the internal stress of the deformed yarn and improve the dimensional stability of the fiber, the shaping is carried out in a closed electric heating box at 165 °C. The polyester yarn after setting is drawn into the oiling roller through the stretching of the bottom roller, and appropriate oil is added to the low elastic yarn through the oil groove. The processed polyester DTY is wound by the machine. Finished DTYs are inspected, weighed and boxed. The above processes are all completed by the texturing machine.
